I went into a bit of detail on Matt Asiata in an article about the Minnesota backfield this week, but I'll elucidate a little more here. In his one real start in 2013, Asiata carried the ball 30 times for only 51 yards, for a per carry average of 1.7 yards per attempt. That's just awful. To quote myself in the aforementioned article, "Put anyone with lesser talent in [Adrian Peterson's] role and there is still some sneaky fantasy value, but not much. Lesser parts will mean a lesser product."
Matt Asiata is a lesser part. He may seem like a sneaky start, but just don't do it. We saw on Thursday Night Football what happens when Bobby Rainey is your lead back, as opposed to Doug Martin. It's just ugly.
