As I stated before, tackles are the most sustainable form of IDP production, and boy does the Kansas City Chiefs’ inside linebacker group collect those in bunches. This past week, Josh Mauga collected 3.5 tackles and one tackle for a loss -- a total of 6.5 points. He’s very much a lower ceiling-ed player, as Derrick Johnson, Justin Houston, and Tamba Hali play next to him, and they soak up a lot of action to say the least. However, Mauga should have a steady flow of tackles throughout the year, even if he lacks in the big play department.
This week, he gets the Denver Broncos across from him, at home in Arrowhead Stadium. With Peyton Manning floundering already this year, we can expect the Broncos to hand the ball off a lot. Whether C.J. Anderson is running it, or Ronnie Hillman, there should be inside-run tackle chances galore.
Mauga is available in 99.1% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for around 7.5 tackles, and a total score of 7.83 balanced fantasy points in Week 2.
