The margin between the "haves" and the "have nots" is widening. With the way the market has shifted and allegiances have swung lately, there's no telling who is safe and who isn't anymore. One week might see you on top of the world, and the next finds you just trying to piece something together. The one thing everything agrees with is the idea that we are at a crossroads, and there is no turning back.
This, my friends, is the effect of fantasy football gentrification.
The elite fantasy options at every position have become far better bets than their second-tier peers, and nowhere is this truer than the Individual Defensive Player (IDP) format. Here’s an unbelievable stat for you: the Arizona Cardinals’ defense has used 11 different defensive alignments so far in 2015. The Cardinals have used 20 different defensive players at one point or another thus far -- in only two games. With that kind of heavy rotation and situational usage, only three players in their front seven have over 100 snaps at this point: the superstar players.
This effect is happening across the league, and it means that we have to be ever more careful about how we examine the players at the margins.
