The Packers have not been known for a stout defensive presence in the last few years. In fact, that side of the ball has been the bugaboo that’s plagued them in the playoffs since their 2010 season Super Bowl win. Yet, we saw a Week 2 prime time performance by Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch that looked positively mortal, and a large amount of that credit is due to Green Bay’s defensive line, including Mike Daniels.
Daniels was a disruption machine against the Seahawks, pulling in 5.0 total tackles and a sack last week. He figures to see the field a lot in a similar manner this week against the Kansas City Chiefs, as the Packers will be playing their run defense packages to try to stymie Jamaal Charles like they did Lynch. The Chiefs love to lean on the run, so Daniels may get plenty of opportunities to vacuum up tackles.
Daniels is available in 97.7% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for around 3.5 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and a total score of 4.62 balanced fantasy points in Week 3.
