Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 4
Pernell McPhee has the opportunity of his career; he now keys the pass-rush for the Chicago Bears. Is he worth an IDP pickup?

Rashean Mathis, Cornerback

I hate recommending cornerbacks; I can’t state that enough. Due to gameflow, they can be highly inconsistent on a week-to-week basis. Rashean Mathis, however, has been consistently impressive in IDP scoring in 2015. Due to the inability of the Lions front seven to get to the quarterback they way they did last year, Mathis has picked up 19 total tackles through just three games. This doesn’t mean he’s been exceptional in coverage, rather he’s just poor enough to allow a catch and then get the tackle.

Still, IDP fantasy players won’t be complaining about his lack of coverage skills this week against the Seattle Seahawks. He should be matched up against Jermaine Kearse this week, who is averaging six targets weekly. That means that Mathis should have a baseline of 6 fantasy points to build off of, and more if he’s called in for run support.

Mathis is available in 96.3% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for around 6.0 tackles, a pass defensed, and a total score of 7.42 balanced fantasy points in Week 4.
