While the Chargers invested a lot in taking Melvin Gordon in the first round, it has once again been Danny Woodhead shining in their offense. Gordon has seen more carries, but Woodhead has 347 yards from scrimmage and 2 touchdowns, compared to 262 yards and no touchdowns from Gordon. Woodhead has also been the far more efficient back in the run game. His 0.12 Rushing NEP per carry ranks 6th among the 54 backs with at least 20 carries, while Gordon's -0.17 ranks 49th.

Woodhead has also dominated the red zone touches in the Chargers backfield this year. Of the eight called run plays in the red zone, Woodhead has seven carries to only one for Gordon, while also adding 2 targets. That's 36% of the Chargers' red zone snaps that Woodhead has either carried the ball or been targeted. The Chargers are projected the eighth highest team total this week at 24.25, and Woodhead is a serious threat to rack up touchdowns any time the Chargers are scoring lots of points.
