Add Theo Riddick to the list of running backs who should be rostered in all PPR leagues moving forward. Riddick is the Lions' Lance Dunbar, in that he gets little to no work between the tackles, but has a sustainable role in the passing game -- through Week 4, it's made him the most productive running back on the Lions' roster.
With Ameer Abdullah and Joique Bell handling most of the carries through four weeks, Riddick's managed to put up an impressive 9.04 Total NEP, compared to Abdullah's 1.93 Total NEP and Bell’s awful -5.26 Total NEP.
While Riddick's productivity is certainly buttressed by his role as the passing-game specialist in the Lions' backfield because moving the ball through the air is much more efficient than via the rush, the opportunity to continue making plays should remain. Playing for an 0-5 team with a quarterback that can't seem to get anything going on offense, particularly via the deep ball, Riddick's been the beneficiary of shorter passes in high volume. In fact, Riddick's coming off of his third straight game catching five or more passes, and he just caught his second touchdown pass of the season against the Cardinals yesterday.
In PPR leagues, Riddick provides you a safe floor with touchdown upside given his productivity when he gets his looks. If you need a bye week fill-in in your PPR league, Riddick could be your guy.
