As I mentioned, we’re having to dig deep in Week 7, and some of our best options are highly underappreciated 3-4 defensive ends. Jared Crick falls into that category, as he was one of our previous profiles in this column but still resides below the 15% ownership mark. The man best known for playing opposite of J.J. Watt, Crick currently ranks as the 31st best defensive end in balanced fantasy scoring.
This season has been up-and-down for Crick; he is the owner of three weeks with at least 4.5 fantasy points, but two with 1.5 or fewer. The important thing to notice is that his two big success weeks – against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 and Atlanta Falcons in Week 4 – came against teams that highly emphasized the rushing attack. This week, he goes against a revamped Miami Dolphins offense that will feature running back Lamar Miller. The Dolphins aren’t prone to allowing sacks or stuffs, as they rank 17th and 27th in highest percentage of each allowed, respectively.
Crick is available in 97.1% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for around 3.0 tackles and a total score of 3.49 balanced fantasy points in Week 7.
