With Julian Edelman knocked out of the New England Patriots' win over the Giants after sustaining a broken foot in the contest, Danny Amendola was asked once again to take on a larger role in this passing offense.
And, boy, did he deliver.
Catching 10 of 11 targets for 79 yards against the Giants' 21st-ranked passing defense, Amendola did his part to lead the Patriots to victory on Sunday. His 7.13 Reception NEP was second on the team to only Rob Gronkowski's 8.22 mark.
This continues from Amendola's earlier performances when he also delivered when pressed into a larger role on this team. In the two weeks prior to this contest in which Amendola receiver more than 5 targets (9 in both Weeks 6 and 7), the Patriots' slot receiver produced lines of 7 and 105 yards against the Colts and 8 for 86 yards and a score against the Jets and their stingy secondary.
And with Amendola sporting a respectable 0.79 Reception NEP per target, his efficiency should make him a strong option in the Patriots' passing attack now that Edelman is expected to miss a significant chunk of time to his injury.
