Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills
6 Receptions, 158 Yards, 10 Targets, 2 Touchdowns
NEP: +16.90
Dynasty owners keep waiting for Sammy Watkins to deliver on a consistent basis, but with the Bills coaching staff they'll likely need to keep waiting. Despite the big day by Watkins, he did all of his damage in the first half, collecting only one target after halftime.
Watkins burned holes in the Kansas City secondary, catching 6 of his 10 targets for 158 yards and scoring twice. Every single one of Watkins' catches either went for a first down or a touchdown, simultaneously raising his NEP in the process. Watkins pleaded with the coaching staff earlier for more targets and finally saw that come to fruition with his first game of the year with double-digit targets. However, inconsistencies continue to plague this offense and prevented what could've been an even bigger day by the former first-rounder.
His +16.90 Reception NEP from this week raised his cumulative Reception NEP on the season up to 48.99, 36th highest among all wide receivers. Prior to this week, Watkins ranked 53rd. Watkins finished the day with the sixth-most PPR points this week (33.8), well behind league-leader Doug Baldwin's 38.5.
Markus Wheaton got loose in the Seattle secondary, picking up over 200 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jeremy Maclin caught 9 of 11 for 160 yards and a touchdown, helping his team get the win over Watkins. Odell Beckham Jr. continues to amaze, hauling in another spectacular touchdown grab and 147 yards on the day. Brandon Marshall and Doug Baldwin both got loose this week for multiple touchdowns and over 100 receiving yards apiece.
