Not only has Zach Miller filled in well for Martellus Bennett as the Bears' tight end, but one could also argue that Miller has actually surpassed Bennett as the better player. On Sunday Miller, ripped the Redskins defense apart, catching 5 of 6 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The 8.51 Reception NEP Miller recorded on the day will only help improve his 0.865 Reception NEP per target he was averaging entering this contest. To put this number into perspective, Miller's numbers placed him as the fifth most efficient tight end in the league with at least 20 targets this season, just behind Rob Gronkowski (0.866) and Gary Barnidge (0.865). It certainly helps that Miller has had quite a nose for the end zone lately, pulling in five touchdowns over the last six weeks.
And as the season winds down, Miller should have plenty of opportunities to rack up a few more catches, yards, and touchdowns as the Bears face the Vikings', Bucs', and Lions' 15th-, 20th-, and 29th-ranked passing defenses to close the year, making him a fine add for those in need of a tight end this week.
