Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers
6 Receptions, 88 Yards, 9 Targets
NEP: +8.96
In an emotional game for many at Qualcomm Stadium, the Chargers were able to give their home crowd what may have been a final victory as the Chargers defeated the Dolphins 30-14. A lot of their success hinged on two long time veterans in Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates, who were able to make some critical plays in Week 15.
Gates hauled in 6 receptions on 9 targets for 88 yards. Outside of his first catch of the game, he converted five of his six catches into first downs, helping San Diego move the chains and providing a steady checkdown option for Rivers.
Gates raised his season long NEP to +51.55, 10th-highest among all tight ends. Being held out of the end zone hurt his fantasy production this week, as he was only able to score 14.8 PPR fantasy points, seventh-highest at the position this week.
Jordan Reed just narrowly missed repeating as this week's best tight end performance with a +8.77 NEP. He caught all 7 of his targets for 84 yards and a pair of scores. Benjamin Watson saw 12 targets and was able to reach the end zone on Monday Night Football. He's on pace to set career highs across the board in his stat lines in his 12th season. Delanie Walker caught only two passes but was able to turn them into highly efficient ones with both resulting in touchdowns. Rob Gronkowski and Greg Olsen each had a touchdown apiece and are now both over 1,000 receiving yards on the season.
