Similar to a point I made about Ryan Mathews in yesterday's Rashad Jennings doesn't get enough love for how strong of a career he's had.
Just last year, Jennings finished with a 0.02 Rushing NEP per rush average, which not only was better than the league -0.01 rate for running backs, it was 0.25 expected points per rush better than the man who saw the second-most carries on the team, Andre Williams. Yes, Williams David Johnson. (Ryan Mathews was fifth, for what it's worth.)
But like Mathews, Jennings doesn't get much love because of his injury history.
Unlike Mathews, the Giants selected a running back in Paul Perkins -- also in the fifth round -- who the team believes could be a three-down back, whereas Wendell Smallwood, Philly's pick, is more of a pass-catching threat.
This just makes the Giants' backfield even more confusing. Shane Vereen should continue to play the role of primary pass-catcher among the group, but with Perkins in the mix, Jennings' stock takes a hit.
