NFL
Fantasy Football 2016 Rookie Mock Draft: Round 1
The numberFire crew decided to complete a rookie mock draft. Did everything go according to plan?

1.12: Devontae Booker, RB, Denver Broncos

Drafter Comments

"There's a pretty big drop off from Ezekiel Elliot at the running back position, so we aren't looking for RB1 or RB2 numbers from Booker here. It is all about upside, and I could have selected either Booker or Paul Perkins at this spot, as both are in similar positions. I don't believe that Booker will be the starter Week 1 in Denver (barring an injury), but the Broncos definitely liked what they saw from Booker and drafted him in the fourth round."

"As of now, he should be the third-down back and second in the depth chart behind C.J. Anderson, but Booker would easily take over if Anderson gets hurt (which he has a minor track record of), or if Anderson's play starts to falter (which he also has a minor track record of)." -- Zachary

Other Comments

"I thought Booker was a nice pick for the Broncos, although they probably wish they hadn't re-signed Ronnie Hillman. I do think C.J. Anderson is a quality back, but Booker has the skill set to succeed in the NFL. What he lacks in speed, I think he makes up for in vision and feel. He has a way of slithering through creases and usually ends runs by falling forward." -- Austan

"After re-signing C.J. Anderson to a four-year contract, I'm not particularly fond of this draft pick. Recovering from a torn meniscus, Booker will enter training camp late fighting with Ronnie Hillman for backup duties. A fourth-round draft selection, 24-year old Booker is a three-down back, but will have an uphill climb to playing time to start his career." -- Tyler

"The Booker pick really hurt my Anderson love. When you consider that Denver was willing to give Hillman tons of work last year, it is reasonable to think they do similar for Booker as he is a much better player. Hillman is really only back with the team because nobody else wanted him, and he was cheap." -- Anthony
