"Ervin is still a top-eight back in this class for me, so getting him in the third round as the 13th running back off the board feels like a major steal. He's incredibly athletic (4.41 40-yard dash, 169 inches combined in the vertical and broad jumps), and dominated with a big workload at San Jose State, including on returns (2,637 all-purpose yards with 16 touchdowns in 2015). Yes, he's backing up Lamar Miller, but maybe Miller doesn't end up with the workload Arian Foster had, considering he was never that kind of player in Miami. Even if he does, Ervin is an injury away from potentially being a top back. Think of him as a better version of Danny Woodhead." - Anthony Amico

"I like Ervin and his all-around athleticism. He doesn't run with enough power right now, but I think Bill O'Brien will be able to utilize his talents and get him into space on the outside. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up being in the conversation as the second-best back in this class, but I think that says more about this class than it does Ervin." - Austan Kas
