If you've never played daily fantasy football on FanDuel before, it's time to start. Unlike traditional leagues, you're able to select the players you want on that specific day only, giving you a different squad to root for each and every week.
Here at numberFire we offer great tools for premium members. The analysis below is meant to help you understand why some of these players are top picks in our tools and projections because we don't want you going into the weekend completely blind. We want to help you. Keep in mind, however, that things can change drastically if an injury is announced, so make sure you're double checking the tools and projections as close as possible to kickoff.
Let's break down the main slate on FanDuel for this week.
Quarterbacks
Jared Goff ($8,500) - The Los Angeles Rams' implied total of 27.5 points is second-highest on the slate. They're favored by nine points at home in a game with a 48.5-point over/under, tied for the highest of the weekend. Yes, their opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, are eighth against the pass since Week 10, by our metrics, but they've allowed 17.40 FanDuel points per game in their past five. Additionally, Goff and the Rams are ninth in passing efficiency from Weeks 10 through 16. Goff's splits are pronounced between top-half and bottom-half defenses, but with just four games and not a lot of strong quarterback options, we have to be willing to buy on his upside at this reasonable price.
Drew Brees ($8,100) - Brees has maxed out at 22.6 FanDuel points this season, but this matchup with the Carolina Panthers could bring out the ceiling game. In their two prior meetings -- a 34-13 win and a 31-21 win -- he had 20.8 and 14.46 FanDuel points but threw just 29 and 34 times. The Panthers have allowed 305 passing yards per game since their Week 11 bye, and the New Orleans Saints' passing offense grades out as a top-five unit since Week 10. They own a slate-high 27.75-point total as a 7-point home favorite.
