The Week 4 Sunday night matchup pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners are expected to once again be sans Jimmy Garoppolo, which puts Nick Mullens under center.
On Online Sportsbook, the Niners are comfortable 7.0-point favorites, and the total sits at 46.0 -- implying a scoreline of 26.5-19.5.
Per our oddsFire tool, the public thinks this spread is spot on as the total number of bets on each side is nearly an even 50/50 split, with 51% of the bets on Philly to cover. The money, though, tilts toward San Fran as 56% of the money being placed on the spread is on the 49ers to cover. With the total, 81% of the bets are backing the over, but sharp money is on the under as only 66% of the money being placed on the total is on the over.
For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, kickers are included in these contests, and there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5-times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.
This past offseason our Brandon Gdula did a deep dive on single-game strategy. It's worth checking out before you make your lineups.
Nick Mullens, 49ers ($15,000)
Assuming we don't get a late-week surprise from Jimmy Garoppolo, it's going to be Nick Mullens under center. Mullens has proven to be one of the league's better backups, and he shredded the New York Giants in Week 3 for 343 yards and a touchdown.
The matchup versus the Eagles is a little tougher than last week's date with the G-Men but not by much as we have Philly with the eighth-worst pass D, compared to the Giants sitting third-worst.
In a game that lacks many high-upside players, Mullens is one of the better MVP options.
Miles Sanders, Eagles ($14,000)
It seems like there's only one guy we can feel all that great about right now in the Eagles' offense -- Miles Sanders.
In his two games, Sanders has been a workhorse, seeing touch counts of 23 and 22 while playing 77% and 78% of the snaps. He's run for exactly 95 yards in each outing, and he's been targeted a total of 15 times for 48 yards -- with Carson Wentz ($14,500) overthrowing him last week on what could've been a long touchdown.
San Fran has the league's ninth-best run D, per our schedule-adjusted numbers, and the game script might force the Eagles to go to the air. But Sanders' pass-game work gives him a relatively decent floor even if Philly's offense continues to sputter.
Sanders is our top-projected non-quarterback as we have him totaling 15.3 FanDuel points -- just 0.1 fewer than Wentz.
George Kittle, 49ers ($13,500)
George Kittle is the obvious stacking partner with Mullens, and he's reportedly ready to roll after sitting out the last two games.
The Eagles gave up 37 yards and a tud to Logan Thomas in Week 1 before allowing a three-score day to Tyler Higbee in Week 2. Kittle could feast.
Kittle led the Niners in both target share (28%) and air yards share (26%) in 2019, and even though Deebo Samuel ($10,000) is back for this one, the passing game should go through Kittle.
The only blemish on Kittle's DFS resume for Sunday night is that he'll likely be popular, but he is worthy of consideration for the MVP spot.
Jerick McKinnon, 49ers ($12,000)
Operating as the Niners' starting running back last week, Jerick McKinnon handled 14 carries and four targets, amassing 77 total yards and a score. With Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman expected to be out on Sunday night, McKinnon should be looking at a similar workload.
Jeff Wilson ($11,000) had 15 total touches and scored twice, and with Wilson being cheaper, I am guessing a lot of people may opt for Wilson over McKinnon. But it's hard to know how much of Wilson's volume was due to the lopsided score or if this really is going to be a 50/50 split.
I'll side with McKinnon, but both San Fran backs are good plays in a game in which the Niners should see a positive game script.
John Hightower, Eagles ($5,000)
With all the injuries to the Eagles' pass-catchers, John Hightower, Greg Ward ($9,500) and Zach Ertz ($12,500) are going to get plenty of run in this one.
Ertz is the safe bet to see the most targets, and Ward is coming off a big game of eight catches, 72 yards and a score on 11 targets. But Hightower actually led the Eagles' wideouts in snap rate (86%) last week, and his salary gives you so much freedom.
We project Hightower as the best point-per-dollar option on the slate, and he's a great piece to use if you're stacking the Niners and building as if Philly loses.
