In a unique fantasy format, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, kickers are included in these contests, and there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5-times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.
Our Brandon Gdula has done a deep dive on single-game strategy, and we have projections for the single-game slate if you select the game from the slate tab. It's worth checking out both of those things before you make your lineups.
MVP Candidates
Christian McCaffrey ($17,000): After a monster three touchdown performance in his first full appearance with his new team, McCaffrey stands as numberFire's top option with a 23.9 fantasy expectation against a Los Angeles Chargers' unit ranked 31st in FanDuel points (27.7) allowed per game to running backs including 22.2 rushing attempts for 134.2 yards and 1.1 touchdowns. San Francisco's all-purpose back leads all players on Sunday night in touches (24.6), scrimmage yards (137.5), and total touchdowns (1.25).
Austin Ekeler ($16,500): Despite recent rushing difficulties in his last three games, Ekeler continues to churn out fantasy points with his impressive touchdown production and elevated role in the pass game, averaging 9.6 receptions for 55.6 yards on 12 targets during this time period. Even in a tough spot versus a San Francisco defense allowing the least amount of production to running backs (14.8 FanDuel points) this season, Ekeler ranks second in touches (17.3), scrimmage yards (90.7), and targets (6.7).
Justin Herbert ($15,000): In an offense standing second in pass play percentage (65.4%), Herbert should see plenty of opportunities against a 49ers' defense giving up 21.1 completions for 221.2 yards and 1.0 touchdown per game. On 37.4 expected attempts, numberFire's models project Herbert to record 16.7 FanDuel points.
Jimmy Garoppolo ($14,000): At a lower salary than his opposing quarterback, Garoppolo is an underrated option when considering his easier matchup against a Chargers' defense ranked 12th in FanDuel points allowed per game to his position and 1.17 value rating. The 31-year old is expected to produce more efficient metrics on Sunday night, leading tonight's slate in passing yards (250.1) and touchdowns (1.6) on just 31.7 attempts.
Flex Considerations
Deebo Samuel ($13,500): After sitting out one game with a hamstring injury, Samuel will return against a Los Angeles unit giving up 11.8 receptions for 135.4 yards and 1.1 touchdowns on 18.5 targets per game to wideouts. The 26-year old leads all pass catchers in yardage (64.4) on 6.6 targets.
Brandon Aiyuk ($12,000): As San Francisco's second ranked pass catcher with 3.7 receptions for 50.3 yards on 6.0 targets, Aiyuk is another option to consider versus a Chargers' team allowing the most fantasy points (7.4) to wideouts in the red zone. The 24-year old has seen eight targets within the opposing 20-yard line this season.
Josh Palmer ($10,500): Operating as the Chargers' lead receiver, Palmer is first among his team's pass catchers in targets (8.4), receptions (5.3), and yards (61.1) against a San Francisco secondary ranked 21st in FanDuel points (28.1) allowed per game to wideouts.
George Kittle ($10,000): In an underrated spot against a defense ranked 16th in FanDuel points allowed to tight ends, Kittle is third among San Francisco in receiving yards (47.9) and fourth in targets (5.4).
San Francisco D/ST ($9,500): On 351 pass attempts, the Chargers' offensive line has allowed a 17.7% pressure rate, 30 quarterback hits, and an average of 2.5 seconds in the pocket while the Niners have accounted for a 25.5% pressure percentage, a 8.3% quarterback hit rate, and a 9.3% hurry percentage.
Gerald Everett ($9,000): In a matchup against a defense allowing 4.4 receptions for 36.2 yards on 6.5 targets, Los Angeles' tight end is second on his team in receiving yards (47.8) and targets (7.4). The 28-year old has a sneaky role in the red zone with four targets inside the opposing five-yard line.
Robbie Gould ($9,000): San Francisco's veteran kicker has produced a 82.4% field goal percentage on 1.9 attempts per game while converting all 28 extra point tries in nine home games since last season.
DeAndre Carter ($8,500): In a primary slot role (72.9%), the 29-year old is third on his team in receiving yards (39.9) versus a defense allowing 9.4 yards per completion and 6.3 per attempt.
Michael Bandy ($7,500): Los Angeles' second year wideout should see a similar amount of plays after he logged a career-high 80% offensive snap percentage in Week 9 with multiple injuries in the Chargers' receiving group. On 38 receiving snaps, the 24-year old registered a 97.4% route participation percentage while hauling in five receptions for 26 yards on seven targets.
