New York Giants tight end Larry Donnell has been placed on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season.
Donnell had been sidelined since Week 9. With Will Tye playing well in his absence, the Giants decided to stop waiting around. An impending exclusive rights free agent, Donnell should be back with the Giants for next summer's training camp, but he won't be guaranteed to make the 53-man roster.
Donnell has been one of the league's least efficient tight ends this season. Among the 29 tight ends with at least to targets, Donnell ranks 25th in Reception Net Expected Points per target.
