New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram (shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
The worst fears have been confirmed. Ingram first popped up on the injury report Week 12 with the shoulder issue, but he has been listed as probable the past two weeks. During those games, he's seen his workload scaled back a bit, and we now know why. With Khiry Robinson (leg) already done for the year, New Orleans is now left with C.J. Spiller, Tim Hightower and Marcus Murphy at running back.
This is a disappointing end to what's been a stellar season for Ingram, who is currently the No. 3 running back in standard leagues. Among backs with at least 100 attempts, Ingram ranks 13th in Rushing Net Expected Points per carry.
