Los Angeles Chargers defensive back Derwin James has been diagnosed with a right foot fracture.
"I would like for him to play in 2019, but I don’t know that for sure," said Chargers' head coach Anthony Lynn. It looks like James will be out for multiple weeks if not months. The second year safety will be hard to replace after ranking as one of the best in coverage last year. This is a huge blow to the Chargers' pass defense.
Heading into the 2019-2020 season, numberFire's power rankings rate the Chargers as the seventh best pass defense. In Week 1 of the regular season, Los Angeles will face a Colts pass offense ranked fifth if quarterback Andrew Luck is healthy.
