C.J. Anderson was released by the Detroit Lions on Tuesday afternoon.
Anderson saw his workload reduced in Week 2 and was released on Tuesday to make room for Paul Perkins, who the Lions claimed off waivers. The change could signal an increase in touches for Lions' second-year running back Kerryon Johnson who had been splitting carries with Anderson. With several teams around the league potentially needing help at running back, Anderson may not be a free agent for long.
In two games for the Lions this season, Anderson produced a total of 43 yards on 16 attempts.
