The Los Angeles Chargers are not expected to sign or trade for a veteran quarterback, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Chargers will move forward with Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback after Tom Brady reportedly agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Taylor has familiarity with head coach Anthony Lynn from their time together with the Buffalo Bills, when he averaged 201.3 passing yards a game while throwing 51 touchdowns and 16 interceptions from 2015-17. The Chargers will likely select a quarterback with the 6th overall pick in this year's draft, so Taylor could wind up serving as more of a stop-gap.
In Taylor's last work as a starter, a four-game stint for the Cleveland Browns in 2018, he finished second-to-last in numberFire's adjusted passing metrics among the 44 quarterbacks with at least 95 dropbacks that season.
