Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson is likely to open the season as the starter, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
Johnson is the favorite to open the regular season as the starter against the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Despite his own health concerns and a large knee brace, Johnson may have to handle lead back duties early in the season as rookie D'Andre Swift works his way back to full health following a leg injury. For much of the offseason, Johnson's health was the cause for concern in the Lions' backfield, but Swift's leg injury has cost him valuable preseason time as he enters his rookie season.
Johnson's Week 1 projection includes 45.2 rushing yards, 0.34 rushing touchdowns, and 8.9 FanDuel points. His salary is $5,600.
