San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.
Mostert has operated as the 49ers' clear lead back whenever he has been healthy, but he has struggled to stay healthy in 2020. This ankle sprain will likely result in a trip to the injured reserve and could cause Mostert to miss 6-8 weeks.
When Mostert missed time earlier this season, Jerick McKinnon looked like the team's lead back, even playing on 92% of the team's offensive snaps despite his own struggles with a knee injury over the past two seasons. McKinnon is likely to see a huge workload going forward while working alongside Jamycal Hasty.
