Free agent tight end C.J. Uzomah is expected to sign a three-year, $24 million contract with the New York Jets.
The Jets were in desperate need of a tight end this offseason, and have now secured one of the best available tight ends in the free agent market. Uzomah flashed as a receiving tight end for multiple seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, and played a pivotal role in the team's run to the Super Bowl this past season.
Uzomah caught 49 passes for 493 yards and 5 touchdowns during the 2021 regular season before catching 15 passes for 146 yards and a score in the postseason. While he never broke out as a true receiving threat, he thrived as a complimentary option behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd last year. He'll have plenty of opportunities to produce in a Jets offense without too many other playmakers.
