The San Francisco 49ers signed running back Tevin Coleman back to the active roster on Wednesday.
Coleman was sent to the practice squad after he turned 11 touches into 67 yards and 2 touchdowns last week, but it appears to have been a procedural move. Tyrion Davis-Price practiced fully Wednesday for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 2, so Coleman may have competition for work behind starter Jeff Wilson. The 49ers' backfield will have a plus matchup in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.
numberFire's models currently project Coleman for 7.9 touches and 39.7 yards on Sunday. Per our advanced team metrics, the Falcons have the fourth-worst run defense in the league this season. The 49ers are favored by close to a touchdown, so the positive script should create more running opportunities.
