Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) will not play Week 9 against the New England Patriots on Sunday, per head coach Frank Reich.
"We gotta do what's right for the player," Reich said. He said Taylor's injury is a "week-to-week" thing and the Colts have no plans to place their star running back on injured reserve at this point. Deon Jackson will likely handle most of the backfield work while Taylor is out, with Phillip Lindsay and newly-acquired Zack Moss mixing in as well. In two games without Taylor earlier this season, Jackson averaged 17.1 FanDuel points with 19.5 touches and 106.0 yards.
Jackson has a $5,000 salary on FanDuel in Week 9 and he's now the RB23 in numberFire's weekly rankings. Our models project him for 15.3 touches and 69.8 yards. The Patriots are allowing the second-fewest FanDuel points per game to the running back position this year and their run defense is No. 12 in numberFire's adjusted team metrics.
