Patriots' Mac Jones looking 'more confident' in 2023

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports that third-year quarterback Mac Jones has "looked more confident" in the New England Patriots' offense this offseason.

What It Means:

Howe's report praised new offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien's installation of the offense, the same one he ran while at Alabama. Jones thrived in a very similar scheme during in his own time with the Tide and has so far been drawing much more positive reviews this offseason than he did under 2022 OC Matt Patricia. The Patriots' offense hit a near 20-year rock bottom last season, but things seem to be trending in a positive direction this offseason.

Jones' rookie season showed promising results, but the entire offense struggled with Patricia running the show. Between investments in the pass-catching group and O'Brien's offensive scheme, Jones should bounce back in 2023 after his abysmal sophomore season. He should at least exceed last year's paltry 12.15 fantasy-point-per-game mark.
