San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) remains on track to be ready for the start of the 2023 season, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Purdy underwent UCL surgery following the 2022 season, but he continues to progress in rehab and is expected be ready for Week 1 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Purdy is the favorite to be the 49ers' starting quarterback, so Trey Lance and Sam Darnold will likely be competing for the backup job in training camp. Once he took over last year, Purdy threw multiple touchdowns in six straight starts to finish the regular season, while completing 68.3 percent of his passes and averaging 218.0 yards per contest.
Purdy averaged 18.1 FanDuel points in Weeks 13-18 last season, which would have made him the QB13 for the entire season. Looking ahead, the 2022 Mr. Irrelevant is the QB24 in numberFire's preseason rankings. Our models project him for 3,850.9 yards, 25.06 touchdowns, and 11.7 interceptions this season, plus 176.3 rushing yards and 1.25 touchdowns on 40.1 attempts.
