Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams (knee) is cleared for contact.
Williams had a remarkable recovery from a torn ACL suffered in early October of last year, putting him firmly on track to be the starting running back in Week 1. Prior to the injury, Williams averaged 17.3 combined carries and targets over four games, but he could have increased competition for touches after the Broncos brought in Samaje Perine this offseason.
Williams is the RB28 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 197.9 carries, 881.2 rushing yards, 5.68 rushing touchdowns, 28.3 receptions, 37.9 targets, 192.0 receiving yards, and 1.55 receiving touchdowns. Perine (RB36) is projected for 158.0 carries, 678.1 rushing yards, 4.26 rushing touchdowns, 20.4 receptions, 27.2 targets, 141.3 receiving yards, and 1.15 receiving touchdowns.
