Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet (shoulder) out indefinitely

Seattle Seahawks second-round pick Zach Charbonnet is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury, per head coach Pete Carroll.

What It Means:

Charbonnet missed back-to-back practices over the weekend due to a lingering shoulder injury. "It just kind of crept up on him, really," Carroll said. "He didn't get hit or anything like that. Just all the sudden, he started to feel something, so we're just checking him out and being really cautious right now." Kenneth Walker is also sidelined due to a groin injury, leaving veteran DeeJay Dallas and seventh-round rookie Kenny McIntosh as the Seahawks' next two backs on the depth chart. Charbonnet is expected to play a meaningful role as a rookie, but it could be more limited to begin the season if the shoulder injury causes him to miss preseason action.

Assuming that the Seahawks will have a healthy backfield for Week 1, Walker is currently the RB15 and Charbonnet is the RB49 in numberFire's preseason rankings. Our models project Walker for 264.1 carries, 1,199.3 rushing yards, 29.2 receptions (37.8 targets), 200.1 receiving yards, and 10.17 touchdowns. Charbonnet is projected for 105.7 carries, 476.2 rushing yards, 15.5 receptions (20.4 targets), 101.4 receiving yards, and 2.71 combined scores.
