Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell has been operating as the team's early down back during training camp, according to Phillyvoice.com's Shamus Clancy.
Gainwell's position in the Eagles' running back rotation, and how exactly that rotation will break down, is one of the most important storylines from training camp. After operating as the Eagles' pass-catching back last season, Gainwell has reportedly been used as the Eagles' early down back in training camp and has received the "majority of first-team carries". Swift has been operating as the Eagles' pass-catching back, seeing work on third downs and two-minute situations. It remains to be seen if this usage will carry over into the regular season for Gainwell, but if it does, it would mean a lesser role for Rashaad Penny.
Gainwell is the RB52 in numberFire's preaseason fantasy projections. Swift is the RB31, and Penny is the RB37.
