Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers is being featured in trade talks, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Rams appear eager to get rid of Akers after they made him a surprise healthy scratch in Week 2. The 2020 second-round pick is still only 24 and he finished last season strong, so it shouldn't be hard for the Rams to find a landing spot. Kyren Williams is now the Rams' starting running back and workhorse ahead of a Week 3 road matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Ronnie Rivers is next up in the Rams backfield if Williams suffers an injury.
Akers rushed 188 times for 786 yards and 7 touchdowns, and caught 13 passes (18 targets) for 117 yards, in 15 games for the Rams last season. He finished the year with three straight 100-yard rushing performances. Williams played 76-of-80 running back snaps and was given 24-of-25 running back opportunities in Week 2.
