Vikings placing Justin Jefferson (hamstring) on 4-game IR

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson will be placed on injured reserve with a right hamstring injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

What It Means:

Jefferson will miss a minimum of four games if he lands on IR, but per Pelissero, it remains to be seen how much time the star receiver is expected to miss. Jordan Addison and K.J. Osborn will play larger roles while Jefferson is out and T.J. Hockenson should take over as the No. 1 target for Kirk Cousins. The offense will take a hit overall without Jefferson, but the Vikings' passing game does have a plus matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 6. Jefferson is averaging the sixth-most targets per game in the NFL (10.6) while registering an elite 26.6% target share.

Addison is the WR22 and Osborn is the WR32 in numberFire's Week 6 rankings while Hock is the top overall tight end for the week. The Bears’ pass defense ranks second-worst based on numberFire’s opponent-adjusted NEP model. They are allowing the 11th-most FanDuel points per game to wide receivers and 12th-most to tight ends this season.
