Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew is in line to start for at least the next four games.
The Colts officially placed Anthony Richardson (shoulder) on injured reserve Wednesday, setting up Minshew as the starter through at least Week 9. However, Richardson might reportedly miss up to eight weeks, so Minshew could remain under center into mid-December. The offense isn't expected to suffer with Minshew under center, and Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs should continue to see the bulk of targets. The Colts are visiting a tough Jacksonville Jaguars defense in Week 6.
Minshew is the QB19 in numberFire's Week 6 rankings and our models project him for 15.6 FanDuel points. Among the projected starting quarterbacks, Minshew's $6,500 salary is tied with Zach Wilson for second-lowest of the week. The Jaguars are allowing the sixth-most FanDuel points per game to opposing quarterbacks, but their pass defense ranks seventh based on numberFire's opponent-adjusted NEP model. Among the 34 quarterbacks with at least 50 dropbacks this season, Richardson is 10th (0.13) and Minshew is 15th (0.11) in Passing NEP per attempt.
