The Miami Dolphins are placing running back De'Von Achane on injured reserve with a knee injury, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Achane will miss a minimum of four games and then the Dolphins have their bye in Week 10, so his next chance to play will be in Week 11 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Raheem Mostert is set to be the Dolphins' feature back while Achane is sidelined. Jeff Wilson (ribs) is expected to have his practice window open this week, so he could take over the backup role as early as this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks will compete for work behind Mostert if Wilson isn't ready. The Dolphins are hosting the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 and should be in a run-friendly game script.
Mostert is the RB2 in numberFire's Week 6 rankings and our models project him for 16.8 FanDuel points, with 15.2 carries, 75.9 rushing yards, 3.0 receptions, and 24.5 receiving yards. The Panthers have the worst adjusted run defense in the NFL, according to numberFire’s metrics, and are allowing the second-most FanDuel points per game to running backs this season.
