Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is expected to play a larger role while Zach Ertz (quad) is on injured reserve, per Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports.
McBride was already trending up the past two weeks and that should continue with Ertz heading to the shelf. He registered a season-high 37.5% offensive snap rate in Week 7 and drew a season-best 6 targets. Over the last two games, the 2022 second-rounder has more targets (11) and yards (91) than the first five games combined. McBride has a tough draw against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, but he should see a notable uptick in playing time and usage.
Ertz is averaging only 1.13 yards per route run this season while McBride averages a robust 2.74 yards per route run. Over the last two games, McBride out-snapped Ertz 75-66 and caught 7 passes on 11 targets for 91 yards. Ertz totaled 5 catches and 41 yards on 9 targets in that same span. The Ravens haven't given up a touchdown to a tight end this season and they've allowed the fewest FanDuel points per game to the position.
