Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) will not start again Week 9 versus the Arizona Cardinals, according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Watson is still recovering from a rotator cuff injury that has limited him to just 12 snaps since Week 3. P.J. Walker will likely make another start on Sunday against the Cardinals, but the Browns could pivot to fifth-round rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Among the 38 quarterbacks with at least 50 dropbacks this season, Watson is 36th and Walker is 37th in Passing Net Expected Points per attempt. The Cardinals' pass defense ranks 29th in numberFire’s opponent-adjusted NEP model and they allow the ninth-most FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks this season, so Walker or DTR will have a plus matchup.
