Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (undisclosed) is uncertain for Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, per head coach DeMeco Ryans.
"We'll see where Dameon is as the week goes on," Ryans said after Pierce wasn't seen at Wednesday's practice during the portion open to the media. Pierce only out-snapped Devin Singletary 25-23 in Week 8 and they both had 12 touches each. After averaging 19.2 opportunities over the first five games, Pierce is only averaging 12.5 opportunities over the last two contests. Mike Boone will help out Singletary in the backfield on Sunday if Pierce is ruled out.
Pierce is the RB23 in numberFire's Week 9 rankings and our models project him for 9.7 FanDuel points, with 14.8 carries, 60.3 rushing yards, 1.0 receptions, and 7.4 receiving yards. Singletary is the RB35 and projected for 7.7 FanDuel points on 11.0 touches. The Bucs are allowing the fifth-fewest FanDuel points per game to running backs and their run defense ranks third-best in numberFire's opponent-adjusted NEP model.
