Minnesota Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs will be active as the backup in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, per head coach Kevin O'Connell.
The Vikings acquired Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals earlier this week. Dobbs exceeded expectations with the Cardinals this season, but fifth-round rookie Jaren Hall will start on Sunday. Hall could stick as the starter if he plays well against Atlanta.
Dobbs averaged 16.2 FanDuel points in eight games for the Cardinals and completed 62.8 percent of his passes for 1,569 yards (196.1 per game) with 8 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also rushed 47 times for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns. Among the 33 quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks this season, Dobbs is 25th in Passing Net Expected Points per attempt (negative-0.08). Cousins is 10th (0.13).
