New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito will likely start Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, per head coach Brian Daboll.
Daboll said the Giants are focused on "getting DeVito ready to go" after Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders. That seems to indicate the undrafted rookie from Illinois will make his first NFL start on the road Sunday in Dallas. Saquon Barkley could potentially benefit from a larger workload, but this is a negative overall development for the Giants' offense.
DeVito completed 15 of 20 pass attempts for 175 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in relief on Sunday. He has also rushed 8 times for 29 yards and a touchdown over the past two games while playing 66-67 percent of the snaps. The Cowboys have the No. 3 total defense and No. 5 pass defense in numberFire's opponent-adjused NEP model, so DeVito is drawing a pretty brutal matchup in his first start.
