Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, per head coach Doug Pederson.
Lawrence suffered the injury on Monday night versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Pederson said Lawrence will be evaluated throughout the week as the Jaguars prepare for a Week 14 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. C.J. Beathard will likely draw the start on the road in a tough matchup if Lawrence is ruled out. He completed 9 of 10 passes for 63 yards in relief on Monday and navigated the Jaguars down the field for a game-tying field goal attempt.
Beathard is a capable and experienced backup, but he would still be a downgrade for the receivers if Lawrence is ruled out. The Browns have the second-best pass defense and overall defense in the league this season, according to numberFire's opponent-adjusted efficiency rankings. They also allow the second-fewest FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks.
