NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Los Angeles Chargers are expected to utilize a "hot hand" approach at the running back position in Week 14, which could lead to a decrease in opportunities for Austin Ekeler against the Broncos.
The Chargers have seemingly grown frustrated with their lack of a ground game this year amidst Ekeler's various injuries, and will reportedly try out a "hot hand" approach against the Broncos this week. That means they could split their backfield between Ekeler, Joshua Kelley, and Isaiah Spiller, making Ekeler a riskier play than usual.
Our models still project Ekeler to lead the way in Week 14, with 14.6 fantasy points off of 56.8 rushing yards, 28.7 receiving yards, and 0.7 touchdowns. His work in the passing game should help him stay afloat for fantasy, even as he splits carries with his teammates. FanDuel has set his salary at $7,500.
