New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh told media members Monday that Zach Wilson, who is now in the league's concussion protocols following his Week 15 injury, will be the team's starter when healthy.
Wilson was taken out of the Jets' Week 15 loss to the Miami Dolphins just before halftime for what was initially termed dehydration, but has now been entered into the league's concussion protocols. According to Saleh, Wilson will be the team's starter when healthy, but his status for Week 16 is now up in the air.
Wilson had a rough outing in Week 15, failing to get any points on the board for the Jets before his second quarter exit. Trevor Siemian closed out what ended up being a 30-0 shutout loss and could be the starter in Week 16 if Wilson fails to clear the concussion protocols and Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) decides not to play.
