ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) is "50-50" to play in the team's NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions next Sunday.
Samuel suffered a shoulder injury during the 49ers' Divisional Round win over the Green Bay Packers and was ultimately unable to play through, casting doubts as to his availability for the rest of the playoffs. The star pass-catcher is undergoing tests this week to determine the severity of his injury and we'll learn more as the team prepares for its opening practices of the week.
Samuel's receiving production saw a slight dip in 2023 with the full emergence of Brandon Aiyuk, but the versatile athlete still racked up an impressive 1,117 yards and 12 scores from scrimmage as a dynamic weapon in the 49ers' offense. His absence last week led to Jauan Jennings seeing a surprising amount of work against the Packers as well, making Jennings a potential name to watch for the NFC Championship game.
