The New England Patriots have reportedly signed free agent running back Antonio Gibson.
Gibson flashed upside as a rusher and as a receiver in his four seasons with the Washington Commanders, but rarely managed to do both at the same time. The former third round pick struggled with fumbles, workload, and injuries in Washington, but could benefit from a change of pace.
Gibson should provide depth behind starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson for the Pats this year, especially if Ezekiel Elliott does not re-sign with the team. On paper, he has the skill set to become a fantasy-relevant producer at the position, but he could also fall by the wayside during the offseason (like Ty Montgomery before him).
