Minnesota Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon will be the team's starter moving forward, head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed.
This was the expectation after it was revealed Adrian Peterson's season is likely over due to a torn meniscus in his right knee that will require surgery. Nothing is known for certain in Minnesota's backfield, but McKinnon will likely handle the action between the 20's while Matt Asiata is tagged in for short-yardage and goal-line work.
We currently project McKinnon to rush 11 times for 45 yards and 0.18 touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3, adding 15 yards on 2 catches. Asiata is earmarked for 31 yards and 0.29 touchdowns on 8 rushing attempts.
