Conflicting reports have emerged about Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah (ankle, foot) and the remainder of his season.
Abdullah was placed on injured reserve this week with a badly sprained foot/ankle. He can be activated in eight weeks if the Lions make him their designated player to return. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, he is expected to return shortly after the Lions' bye in Week 10. On ESPN NFL Insiders, however, Adam Schefter said the Lions "think" Abdullah is done for the year with a torn ligament in his foot. It is possible the team doesn't know either way at this point. Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington will handle the bulk of the backfield work for the foreseeable future.
Our models project Riddick for 39 rushing yards and 0.32 touchdowns on 11 rushes, with 4 catches for 33 receiving yards and 0.18 touchdowns in Week 3. He's our 18th-best fantasy option in standard leagues this week.
