New England Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan is not seen as an obvious replacement for Julian Edelman (knee) in the slot, per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.
With the Patriots looking to replace the 158 targets Edelman received last year, the assumption has been Hogan will fill the same role. While he does have some slot experience, Hogan is seen more as a downfield threat with Danny Amendola owning the most similar skill set to Edelman. Expect not just one player to fill the void of Edelman but rather Hogan, Amendola, Brandin Cooks, and James White to all see increased looks this season.
Our models project Hogan for 53.9 catches, 846.9 yards, and 4.7 touchdowns in 2017, making him our 36th-best wide receiver in standard fantasy leagues.
